In this episode, we dive into the artistic universe of Claudia Pagès Rabal, a Barcelona-born visual artist and writer whose work unravels the political, territorial, and linguistic tensions shaping the Mediterranean and the Iberian Peninsula. Speaking from within the development of her new project Feudal Holes, Pagès Rabal reflects on the historical layers, contradictions, and power structures embedded in landscapes, architectures, and the technologies that mediate our perception of them. Her research traces the forgotten and contested histories of the Spanish March, a medieval border zone shaped by shifting sovereignties between Christian and Muslim powers. Through video installations, sculptural “image machines,” and drone-based explorations of Catalonia’s defence towers, she exposes how narratives of protection, invasion, and identity are constructed — and how they collapse under closer scrutiny.
