CURATORIAL INDEX

Across five curated seasons, you will navigate a constellation of works that challenge the very grammar of the moving image. You will witness generative videos that bloom from biological data, glitch cinema that exposes the fragility of the digital image, algorithmic performances that stage the tense duet between artist and code, and synthetic landscapes that are at once sublime and unsettling. Each piece has been chosen for its capacity to function as a resonant question, pushing beyond spectacle to spark new imaginaries about our evolving relationship with the machine.

ECHOS MANIFESTO

What is an echo? It is a memory of a sound, a signal returned to us altered by the space through which it has traveled. In the 21st century, we have become living echoes. Our data, our desires, our creative impulses, and our very identities are projected into the vast, complex architecture of the network, only to be returned to us—refracted, amplified, distorted, and re-coded by algorithmic systems we are only beginning to understand.

Welcome to ON SCREEN 2025: Human Echoes: Beyond the Digital Horizon, an international streaming festival dedicated to exploring these refracted signals. This is not simply a showcase of art made with technology, but a deep, critical inquiry into what it means to be human when our presence is perpetually mediated, our memories are externalized, and our future is being written in collaboration with non-human intelligence. Our title points to this dual condition: the "Human Echoes" are the persistent traces of our bodies, our histories, and our consciousness that resonate within digital systems, while "Beyond the Digital Horizon" is the speculative, unknown territory we are now entering—a future where the lines between creator and creation, organic and artificial, have irrevocably blurred.

ON SCREEN is conceived as a living network, a space for critical mediation between artists, algorithms, and an interconnected global audience. This is not a passive viewing experience. It is an invitation to engage, to question, and to navigate the complex topography of our post-digital world. From the intimate data of the body to the vastness of synthetic landscapes, from the ghosts of history to the specters of a post-human future, this series invites you to listen to the echoes. To find the human pulse within the noise, and to trace the contours of our shared existence as it unfolds between the sensitive and the synthetic.
