]ON[ SCREEN - an international digital video art streaming festival is pleased to announce the theme of its next edition: "Pi - Digital Multiverse." We are seeking works that explore the unknown future of the upcoming technological apocalypse through art, science, and technology.
The concept of Pi has fascinated philosophers, mathematicians, and scientists for centuries and has been a source of inspiration for countless artistic creations. Its mystery continues to be a subject of exploration and fascination. In our postmodern era, language is scattered, and representation is no longer a surface effect attributable to human beings. At this point, the possibility of a universal mathematics collapses, and the inability of human beings to predict events accurately leads to a crisis of representation.
The theme "Pi - Digital Multiverse" invites us to explore the concept of multiple universes and the idea of a digital and interactive environment in which users can work, play, meet, or shop as avatars. We are interested in works that address the possibilities and challenges of the multiverse, as well as the impact of emerging technologies on our society and our understanding of humanity.
The multiverse is a hypothetical group of multiple universes. Together, these universes encompass everything that exists: the entirety of space, time, matter, energy, information, and the physical laws and constants that describe them. The different universes within the multiverse are called "parallel universes," "other universes," "alternative universes," or "many worlds."
And currently digital multiverses or metaverses!
A metaverse is a digital space created through the interaction of virtual, augmented, and physical reality. The main aspect is to combine the various spaces of action on the internet into a reality. The concept is often described with a strong focus on virtual sociality; a future iteration of the internet in the form of persistent, shared, virtual 3D spaces connected to a perceived virtual universe. Such spaces should allow for individualization and everyday activities to a comparable degree as physical reality.

The metaverse is a digital and interactive environment in which users can work, play, meet or shop as avatars. This new virtual universe operates in a decentralized way, and everyone can theoretically connect and move around in this virtual world.
We welcome submissions from artists working in any medium including but not limited to digital art GIF, video art, animation, video performance, short film and video game.
The constant progress in robotics, AI, biotechnology, biomimicry, nanotechnology, quantum computing, and space technology competes with the idea of surpassing humanity, leading to an "event horizon" in which no one can predict what will follow. Human-machine fusion or slave of humanity? Brain upload and immortality or downfall of the human species? Progression or regression? Futurism or archaism? Physics or metaphysics? Utopia or dystopia? Beginning or end?
Following this realization, ]ON[ SCREEN - digital video art international streaming festival calls upon both the art world and the world of technology to submit works that outline, comment on, predict or determine the upcoming singularity, the human role in this new era, the new digital space, and the role and form of art and technology within it. The festival aims to create content for its upcoming edition, which will take place in 2023.
